While I'm a strong anti-sugar advocate, this study is another epidemiological conclusion with nothing more than the ability to weakly correlate behavior with diet. There are many other non-dietary factors that contribute to this behavior including socio-economic environment, poverty status, home and community environments, and much more. The scare tactics might work in making people aware of additional dangers of sugar and result in reduced consumption, but our behavior changes produce much better outcomes in measured responses to fact-based research.
