I think what works in the long term for low-carbers - vegetarians or meat eaters - is taking the principles of low-carbing and applying them to your particular situation.

For vegetarians, choosing lower glycemic beans and grains and incorporating them into your diet is definitely an option. I don't know what you ate in your past life, but cleaning up the way you eat will certainly improve your overall health. See how your body reacts to different foods. Do certain things make you feel tired or sluggish? Do other things give you energy?

With changing the way you eat for life, there is no such thing as too much information.
