Default Eat Fat Lose Fat

Eat Fat Lose Fat by Mary Enig is a book I like that has a different emphasis than many of the low carb books I have read. While Atkins, Volek and Phinney, etc mainly focus on limiting carbs This book's main focus is the virtues of saturated fat, primarily coconut oil. Enig is also a proponent of cod liver oil, not just for omega-3 but for large doses of vitamin A. She is also a fan of fermented food and raw milk and cheese. It is a fairly quick read, basically an intro chapter, a couple of main chapters and then some recipes.

Mary Enig was one of the first people to blow the whistle on trans fats back in the 1980s as a grad student at the university of Maryland. Her and her partner Sally Fallon founded the Weston Price Foundation and they have a website with a lot of interesting diet and health info. Sally Fallon has a cookbook called Nourishing Traditions that follows the principles of the Foundation and the book.
