I know the cravings because I quit smoking in 2002.
Thinks to help you: losenges (cough drops) and sweet tarts (the large ones) help kill cravings. A cup of hot tea or a whole, cold cucumber are easy, emergency fixes. You can eat a whole gallon of Sugar-free jello and it won't hurt you.
And if you should fall off of the wagon (dieting or smoking cessation), just climb back on. I had numerous false starts before it finally STUCK. Eventually it will stick for you, too.
