Good suggestions by Carpender. It's interesting what types of pushers we encounter at this time of year. Many psychological dynamics at play. I really focus on carbs being a drug, as she states, and I cannot allow myself to become dependent again on that drug. It's very simple, I am a recovering carb addict, and I need to stay the course to protect my health and well being.

Edited to add: As Carpender recommends, I simply say no thank you to the carb pushers with no explanation. If the host is persistent, I simply say, "I am not able to eat that food." Usually, it stops at that point.
