Most of us do not do well on Synthroid which is a T4 med only. A lot of us do not convert the prohormone T4 into the active hormone T3 very well and need it added to our meds regiman. T3 is prescription Cytomel or many take natural porcine thyroid meds like Armour, Naturethoid or Westhroid which contain both. Check out a website called stopthethyroidmadness.com to learn and research some more. Once you have thyroid disease and are medicated it is rare to be able to stop them. TSH is not the proper testing for thyroid disease alone. TSH=thyroid stimulating hormone and is produced by the pituitary gland. You need free T3, free T4, Vitamin D and ferritin level testing also.
