As far as I can tell, Suzanne Sommers just stole the whole thing from Montignac. Personally, I can't stand her or her opportunistic tendencies. I certainly wouldn't give her any of my money.

Anyway, I did Montignac for a while and it worked quite well for me. I looked at the Sommersize books and it looked like it was lifted straight from Montignac. There seems to be a bit of a difference here and there (Probably for copyright reasons), but nothing significant. The guiding principles are the same. The only good I can say about her system, is that she has good looking recipes and a very active community board.

I don't blame you for finding montignac unpractical if you read the French version of the books. The ones adapted for Quebec are much better. There are also two recipes books published by two Quebec nutritionists that are chock full of good recipes, using local produce and ingredients.

However, this being, said, I think that Montignac's methods are passé For example he espouses the use of fructose when there are now serious concerns about fructose being even worse than sugar. Also, the food combining method is unproven. Might even be hogwash. Lots of authors are coming out with methods backed on solid evidence and research. For example, you might check out Protein Power . I was impressed with their book.
