Urgent- glycol in colonoscopy prep

Been diligently eating correctly for colonoscopy. Low fiber diet. And avoiding the SAD applesauce and sugar options. Just meat these last two days.

Pulled out prep bottle.

First ingredient is polyethylene glycol!!!

Is that SUGAR???????

I use a concentrated propylene glycol in my mother sheep who need emergency boost in blood sugars.

Did some sluthing.

Found old thread recommending Miralax and sugar free Gatorade. Links to complete information are gone.

Raced to WM,with minutes to spare as store was closing in15 minutes. Found Miralax in packets. Lists the same active ingredient polyethylene glycol 3350. Bought WM beand as much cheaper.

Then ran to get Gatorade. Empty shelves. Not much product. Associate said Gatorade company did the restocking. Found small bottles of orange sugar free.

Drove home. Hate driving on dark rainy nights with few cars on the road. Rather appreciated that Dominos was still open.

Did a google search for this ingredient. Found:

"Polyethylene glycol works by retaining water in the stool, resulting in softer stools and more frequent bowel movements. Polyethylene glycol does not affect glucose and electrolytes in the body.

Update.

Colonoscopy went well.

Low heart beat in recovery was a problem, forcing an EKG.

Imho:

Low potassium. Low minerals in general. Not rating so no salt on steak . No Sea salt. No No- salt. No Iodized salt.

Had planned to take them this morning, but hospital called changing time from 1:45 to 10:45, if possible.

Now no fluids, too close to procedure time.

Wish I had thought to just take the salts, but nothing by mouth was the orders.

Problem.
Experienced very low heart beat in " recovery" from sedation. Like 40-44-39. Kept alarm buzzing.

Does anyone have thoughts on this issue of low
potassium , or another angle?

I hope you are okay now!

I would suspect that the prep knocked all the electrolytes out of whack.

DH went through it, and it was a month before we got it back to normal.
