Keto Sticks

Where do I get keto sticks and how much are they? Just wondering. I would like to know when I am in ketosis.

Hi, Barbie,

In the past, I found them at Walgreens and on Amazon, but I don’t use them anymore.
Here is a good video:
Dr. Ken Berry explains how you can tell you are fat adapted, no meter required (or ketone sticks.)

Using the sticks were exciting at first and helped with the process. Eventually they do not give the reading for ketones as your body learns to use them. Also the sticks have a short shelf life so use them all and don't store them.

Bought mine at a local pharmacy.

Thanks DancinGurl. I found the You Tube informative. To tell you the truth - I didn’t like the Ketosticks so this video was great.

Dr. Ken Berry has a lot of good videos, with practical, down to earth advice.
Here's one with his tips for keeping keto simple:

Hi Barbie,
my experience was : According to the sticks I am NEVER in ketosis.

Ok maybe sometimes I get the palest colour change, as if it *might* be a trace but usually I think it’s my eyes fooling me. And I had times during my first year that I worked hard on it, and was fat-adapted ... so I have two thoughts:
1. It’s been said that being in ketosis is like being pregnant - you either are, or you aren’t...so trace amounts are a great marker and don’t worry if they don’t go dark.
2. I lost the middle 10 pounds during that time i used the sticks and I think I was just very excreting a low level of ketones but still in ketosis and losing.

I never heard what Arielle says “they don’t work after a while because you body is burning the key tones” ! Maybe that explains it...

Anything that helps motivate— looser clothes, or the scale, or the keto sticks, or a tape measure —can be helpful but also discouraging when you don’t see change. So I try to be careful about getting too hyped up on any kind of measurement change.

There’s a thread somewhere about “what are the benefits” of eating this way and it helped me a lot to focus the first two months on how much better I slept, how much calmer I felt and how much less brain fog I had.

Onward, friend! Doing all this reading and asking questions is great and will help you make the mental shift to the new way of eating.

Hi DancinGurl! I just watched a few of Dr. Ken Berry's videos. He makes a whole lot of sense! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Blue,
I have been on induction for 5 days now and the scales have went up but I am too stubborn to give up because my BG has went down to better readings, I am sleeping better, and also like you say, no brain fog!!!!

I love this WOE!!! To me it is so much better and easier than low fat and other diets.
