(( Unsweetened Chocolate ))
Hey Everyone,
I'm new to the site, but been a low carber for the last few years. I'v found lots of new recipes recently and they all contain chocolate! :D .. unfortunately its unsweetened chocolate which has proven nearly impossible to find a decent amount for a sane price online. Best one iv found so far is this... 1kg for £8.52. http://www.plamilfoods.co.uk/no-add...-catering-drops When I looked at the nutritional label i was quite shocked to see it had 41g of carbs and only 8.5g of fiber! Surely that cant be right? Does anyone else use unsweetened chocolate? |

I use unsweetened cocoa powder + butter or coconut oil + SF sweetener for baking.
I can't stand SF chocolate. |
Actually as it is a non-USA label those 41 carbs are the same as "net carbs", outside USA the fibre is not counted as being a carbohydrate at all!!
Cocoa mass has about 55% fat/30% carbs/15% protein; xylitol has about 4 carbs per teaspoon (from sugar alcohol); cocoa butter is all fat; so the product is bound to have lots of carbs and not a lot of fibre in it. Unsweetened cocoa powder has about 2 net carbs per tablespoon (at least the one in my pantry has) so if I want to make chocolate I make chocolate bark like MissPi suggested. |
If you want chocolate its best to use something like this:

Yes, that is what I eat too. Delicious! I even got used to the 99% cacao, same brand. Fantastic with a dark espresso! |
Cheers ladies :)
I'm going to try the Lindt 90% chocolate :/ bit scared about the sugar content though. Just finished writing up a recipe for a Mississippi mud pie which ill use the Lindt in. Can't wait to test and eat it! :yum: |
What's the carb count of that 90% Lindt stuff?
And what's chocolate bark? |

I usually upload any pictures into the gallery from my computer then take the link that shows below the photo and paste that into a post. |
Can you get Chocoperfection in the UK? It is wonderful!
