Quit Smoking with Magnets?

Has anyone tried to quit smoking using the magnets that you put on your ear?

My husband is a 3-pack-a-day smoker and has been smoking for 20 years. He tried the patch years ago and got sick from it since he smoked too.

He saw an ad for magnets that go on your ear and use accupressure, and he said he would try it.

I would looooove for him to quit - has anyone had any luck with these? Or know someone who has?

I looked online and mostly found blogs calling them total scams :(

I've never smoked, but I use a magnet pad on my pillow. It has 9 magnets and it has an herbal aromatherapy blend inside the pad that can be changed out after a time. I use it as an anti-anxiety and sleep treatment. It works very well. I skip using it now and then and notice a difference. It works for me for what I need. I think it might work for your husband and his need to stop smoking.

I just put a few sites to possibly help you see that it is probably more common of a practice then we might think. It is probably not nearly the norm for a course of treatment, but I've found that alternative medicines are sometimes the best remedy.

It is certainly worth a try. I wish him the best!

I had that done 40 years ago. It didn't work then, and I doubt it would work any better now! I also tried an acupuncture needle in my ear, which I was supposed to turn whenever I felt the urge to smoke. That didn't work, either.

If your DH has tried all the nicotine-replacement therapies without success (they didn't work for me, either), you might want to consider hypnotism. That was how I finally managed to quit smoking. I haven't even wanted a cigarette since that night. At the most, all I've ever had was a fleeting thought of a cigarette. The thought was so brief that it barely registered with me. :)

I found quitting smoking with duct tape worked a lot better than magnets.

After reading the subject of this thread, I had to ask, "Why would I be smoking my meat with magnets in the first place?"

Sorry for the bad joke.

And the duct tape...well, it would probably take that and handcuffs too.
