100% Grassfed Beef or Bison--brand to buy?
 

Looking for a reliable source of grassfed beef , or bison.

Disappointed to hear today that 100% grassfed can mean feeding forages that include wood fibers.....last I knew wood is not grass .....so 100% grassfed then is meaningless.

Looking for legal definitions of "100% grass fed" as well.

Figure you folk here in paleo and neo will know. Thanks in advance.

When the days get shorter the grass stops growing and we are about as far south as you can get. We have to feed grain in the form of cattle cubes in the winter along with hay for 4-5 month per year. You don't want to know what they feed the cattle imported from Mexico. It pays in quality to read the country of origin.

I have been buying grass-fed beef and bison online for many years.
I buy from both U.S. Wellness Beef and North Star Bison. Both have superb products and excellent customer service.

Excellent-- will check them out.

Was at the local farmers' market this morning, and found a new local vender. Pastured chickens, pastured pork, grass fed beef, and raw milk. Best options are local, if they are available. Not always available, I realize, but that would always be my first choice.

It's not my meaning to highjack this post, but you can hunt your own deer and process the meat. I normally turn all the meat into summer sausage and give it out to the tenants of my short term rentals.

I sometimes buy Strauss veal at Whole Foods Market.
