TVP and its carb content?

never tried tvp before, got some today, the carb content says 35g per 100g..... i think this sounds quite high? in my rose elliot book she says to use 100g of tvp in a burger recipe, making 2 burgers and total carb count for each burger is 3g carbs only...... i dont get how that can work out? unless the 35g is per 100g dry weight meaning it will be a lot lower 100g cooked weight? anyone know if my assumption is right? bit put off by using it now, until i find the answer to this question

ive made some weitan today for the first time, in replacement of the tvp for the time being, its erm, definately, different! lol

thanks in advance

TVP is a food product made from soybeans. It is produced from soy flour after the soybean oil has been extracted, then cooked under pressure, extruded, and dried. Per 1/4 Cup you are looking at about 7g of carbs 4 of them fibre so net, 3g's. That's cooked. I personally am not a fan of Soy as its been proven to muck around with the thyroid and good luck finding any that isn't GMO these days. Too many phytoestrogens at the wrong time can be a bad thing. I see you are vegetarian though so if you are used to Soy and it works for you, I'd say it's ok!
