Fruit in Salad?

Hi all, just curious...

Can you put some fruit in your veggie salad (no meat) like a few raspberries or blueberries? What about seeds or nuts in with that fruit and veggies?

What about those raspberry vinigarette dressings? Do those count as improperly combining?

Thanks!

In Atkins Phase 2, you are allowed berries...I don't know about the dressing, I guess just read the label to make sure its not packed with sugar. :)

I guess that it would depend on which food combining program that you are following. My two plans are very strict about fruit always being eaten alone, raw, and on an empty stomach. I can't speak for any others.:)

I was kinda wondering the same thing. Can I put a few raisins in my oatmeal? I guess raisins are kind of like a fruit, so is it bad to put them with carbs?

Hmm K8ty....

My guess would be that raisins would follow the same rules as any other fruit. It never even occurred to me that dried fruit might be an option. I stick to fresh juices and fruit in it's original form.

Since I am striving to eat only fruit until noon, I also stay away from cereal. Fit for Life would call this a poorly combined meal since it is a combo of two different "concentrated" foods, starch and dairy.

The Sommers program might allow cereal since on her plan, skim milk is a carb. Cream is a "fat" and therefore it goes in the pro/fats group. Non fat things such as non fat yogurt, non fat sour cream or non fat cottage cheese are all in the starch category. Partial fat things are not allowed, ie 2% milk, "light" dairy anything. It's all (cream, butter) or nothing (no fat at all).
Gives you a headache trying to sort it out huh? I usually buy these fresh juices by Bolthouse Farms or Fruit Fix and sip on those until noon. Quick and easy when I am chasing the baby around!

Hi

I just found this info about raisins.

I too often feel like some in my oatmeal. It's definitely a insulin spiker. If it were me i'd use berries

hope this helps :)

I would like to add raisins to my oatmeal as well, it makes it easier to eat lol...I think 1/2 ounce would be okay, only 11 carbs.. What do you think???

If you absolutely can't live without them, then, what choice do you have? lol. But, fresh blueberries would be much much better...dried fruit usually has a lot of sugar in it
