Anyone taking Cinnamon?

Hi ladies! I was dx with PCOS in November, after struggling with many issues for a few years. I was having about 1 period a year, and finally had one in December induced by Prometrium. I was put on Metformin, but couldn't tolerate it so I switched to taking Cinnamon and within 7 days had my period. That was about 35 days ago. I've continued taking it, and my new GYN wanted me to go really low carb, which I have done, and I'm continuing to take Cinnamon, and hoping that sometime this week, I'll get my period. I'm taking 1000mg per day, and counting it as 1g of carb. Just wanted to see if there were any cinnamon cysters here :)

Also, what are you finding works best for you? I'm very familiar with the low carb lifestyle, however 2 years ago when my weight wouldn't stop going up, my Endicrinologist suggested Weight Watchers and that only served to put weight ON me. My newest dr that dx me with PCOS describes PCOS as the bodies inability to process carbs, which makes sense. I have found that I have good luck sticking with mainly meat, eggs, cream and little cheese... I have a salad every other day. Just not sure if most are doing full Atkins, meat and cheese, carb cycling, etc.

Thanks!

I took cinnamon for a long time. It seemed to help some. I know there was at least one study that said that cinnamon was not effective and a couple that indicated that it might be.

I started out doing Atkins but eventually evolved to a low carb diet with no processed food and lots of veggies. Nearly all my carbs come from veggies now - big salads, broccoli, cabbage, avocados. Sometimes I will also have a small amount of oatmeal for breakfast. My carbs range from about 20-50 gms a day. This is low enough for me to stay in ketosis. My blood sugar really stays under control if I eat this way, and I feel great. My weight is now in the normal range for my height.

I'm taking L-carnitine. It was highly recommended by Dr. Atkins. I was taking glucophage, it didn't do much for me so I quit taking it. I find exercise and low carb to be the very best thing for PCOS.

I just heard about taking cinnamon a few days ago. I've been contemplating adding it to my daily regime. Any thoughts on if this is helpful or not?
