15 months later

It's been slow but steady progress and I'm now just under my goal weight of 155 pounds. I was 176 pounds in Nov 2016, and am 154 pounds today. I can fit my old jeans again. Not as much weight loss as some, and not as fast as some, but watching the scale reading go down bit by bit has been encouraging. I started doing Atkins and then after a few months did a general low carb diet - most of the time. I'd like to lose a little bit more. My doctor is very happy with what I've done too.

Feel free to say congratulations. Sheesh.

Congrats Cando! 4 months to lose 20 pounds when that was all you had to lose is GREAT!

Typically those folks who lose 20 lbs their first month started out with 70 to 100 lbs or more to lose.

Are you planning to stick with a LC diet in order to maintain your weight loss? Unfortunately, most people who go back eating in the same way that got them overweight to begin with find that they quickly regain all their lost weight. And the re-found pounds tend to bring a few friends with them!

Hi Bevangel,
Thankyou for the congrats and affirmation. I'm sorry, I got a bit snarky, I was excited and heard crickets. I appreciate you taking the time. Yes, I'm staying mostly low carb. I'm used to eating that way now, and I enjoy my diet. I occasionally eat something with more carbs but not often. Realising how much sugar is in some food has been an eye opener.

Of course you were excited and wanted to share. Must have felt like you were being ignored. I don't think it was that. Some days this board tends to be pretty slow or there'll be something on a particular forum that catches everybody's attention so that other things just don't get noticed. It's impossible for anybody to read everything that gets posted. I think maybe you just posted on a rather slow day. Anyway, glad to hear you're making LC your way of life! Do that and you'll probably never wind up with huge amounts of weight to lose!

Congratulations! I’m about the same but I’m a little more than 4 inches shorter than you. Your accomplishment is huge! You didn’t really have much to lose and that’s when it comes of sloooooooow.

Thanks Robyn and Tess. Yes, the smaller amount can be hard. My doctor said my age was a factor too -I'm 55. But anyway, I feel great and look so much better too. And I fit my old jeans. I'm chuffed. You are both doing awesome. Low carb really is the way isn't it.

I'm late to the party, but congratulations! It's wonderful. I'm going on my first anniversary of low carb, too, down 30 pounds give or take. I gained a few over the holidays but in general keep it within 3-4 pounds of goal. Twenty or thirty pounds makes a huge difference in how you look and feel.

Cando4 Thu, Mar-08-18 04:58

Hi Barb, congratulations on your weight loss! You are so right, it really does make a difference on how you look and feel.

Just the fact that you felt good enough about it to post shows its good for you. Half of the battle is in the mind.

Weight loss is weight loss if you do it on purpose. Everyone's journey is a little different.

Good for you!

Cando4 Sun, Mar-11-18 02:33

Thanks Meetow. I can see you've done very well yourself too!

Way to go!!!

Nice job! This board seems a little slower than the old one, I just started coming back here. Need to get back on track and it's good to hear other people's progress!
