Dr.Troy Stapleton – I Manage My Type 1 Diabetes By Eating LCHF

Excellent new video for Type 1 diabetics:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR8rc_AF6XU

Talk given at the LowCarb DownUnder meeting.
Kudos to Dr. Bernstein, the program Dr. Stapleton has followed since Dec 2012.
He researched information from the Nutrition and Metabolism Society and The Diet Doctor. Uses a question and answer technique about LCHF at that end that makes the information very clear to anyone, even interesting for Type 2s.

Thank you Janet,
I missed this post and came across it tonight.
What a great video.
I am a Type 1 and it is so hard to find Type 1 information.
I will come back again and again to this video.
It's like getting a pep talk over and over again.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I recently was checking resources for a friend in Chicago and noticed that an RD there, who is also a T1, has really improved her website. Has tons of good, free information and links on it now. Like most RDs, you can consult with her via Skype, but start by checking out her site if you haven't heard of Kelly Schmidt before:

Just a short article by Dr Keith Runyon, another T1 Doctor who manages his diet, keeping in nutritional ketosis.

An article about Halle Berry, diagnosed T1 at age 19, turning 50. Controls it with a Low Carb Diet and exercise
Quote from Dr Eric Westman, even mentions Ketogenic diets and his book KetoClarity. Also indirect quotes from Dr Bernstein and Dr David Ludwig.
Amazing photo of her body at 50.

Brilliant, truly inspiring talk by Dr David Dikeman. He's a PhD in physics, father of T1D, founder of TypeOneGrit and producer of Dr Bernstein 's Diabetes University.

How to Avoid Complications of Type One Diabetes

Many studies of complications at high HBa1c levels, not even considered diabetic.

The results of Dr Westman's/Dr Barton Pilot study of the TypeOne group around minute 34.

Member site of Diet Doctor, includes transcript of this terrific talk, can take screen shots of the slides.

Also from Australia...A Primal T1D success story posted on Mark's Daily Apple. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/how-...my-entire-life/

Amazing story of a personal trainer/athlete diagnosed with T1 in his 20's, now a Diabetes Educator in Australia. Check out his terrific website (eye candy alert) with another with a gluten free, lower carb Primal eating plan...in opposition to the official diabetes advice. How can Dr Fettke be told not to discuss low carb eating with diabetics and others without a medical degree openly advertise it.

I know a new type 1 age 12 that will like that site. ~Jey100 - you are awesome !

Best resource for T1D kids and their parents is the TypeOneGrit FB page linked above. They can read a description of the group page before joining if interested. It is totally committed to Dr. Bernstein's plan of low carb limits per meal, which is effective but strict. If they can obtain good BG control on a primal diet version like this new website great, but if not, watch Dikeman's talks on DietDoctor and Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes University YouTube lectures to learn more how to manage T1.

I wish Mary Tyler Moore had gone this route. She might still be alive.

Halle Berry again, in major TV interview using the word Ketogenic and explaining that she eats healthy fats all day. This interview has been picked up by many media outlets...here is Toronto Sun.
May she inspire many women to eat good fats, even if not T1 diabetic, who would like to look like her at 50.

We always lament that the Keto Diet needs a well-known champion, particularly one not in it for the money like Oprah and WW.

Maybe it is Halle Berry?

She is certainly a worthy spokesperson. I agree, Janet, that having well-known champions is going to attract people who wouldn't find out about healthy eating otherwise. It's all good.
