More very bad news for statins...they contribute to CVD via hardening of the arteries.

Great article. Should be the nail in the coffin for statins, but it won't be.

Good lord. When Lipitor, all by itself, is a trillion dollar industry?

WAYYYYY too much at stake!

In honor of DR Zoe Harcombe being awarded her PhD in Public Health Nutrition yesterday, bumping up her excellent summary of cholesterol and statins.

Good for her!

Sometimes I feel like I am in a science fiction movie, where people look at me like I have two heads when I tell them statins are dangerous.

I remember a participant in one of my weight loss challenges, a lady in her early 70's. She was about 80 lbs overweight, and her doctor had put her on statins.

A month later, she could barely walk, because the muscles in her legs were so painful. She told the doctor she thought it was the statins, and he dismissed that.

But she stopped them on her own, and the muscle pains went away.

Now, multiply her story by the literally millions of people worldwide who have used statins, and how many MORE adverse events might there be showing in the data? Not just striated muscle damage, which is bad enough, but other, life threatening issues?

Exactly, Jo. But the doctors, just like the rest of us, were educated to believe that high cholesterol, esp high LDL, leads to heart attack. And, if that's true (doubtful, at best) then lowering total cholesterol is good, right?

WRONG.
