I just received my chicolin and stevia from Canada--great stuff! I ordered mine from a business called Mountain Parameters. Here's the link:
http://www.fudge.ca/brands/brand_Detail.cfm?ID=100136

It's the Bioquest brand that's on the website Karen posted, but it's cheaper here, and John (the owner) was very nice and helpful. The stevia was cheaper here, too. Much less expensive than using Splenda.

To use it, you just dump the 25g jar of stevia into the 250g jar of chicolin and shake it really well. As best as I can tell, 1 tablespoon might be roughly equal to one cup of sugar. I made the peanutbutter cups and used 3/4 teaspoon and felt I could have used a little more. Since that recipe calls for 1/3 cup of Splenda, 1 teaspoon of chic/stevia seems like it would be equal to that, hence 1 tablespoon for a cup. My next plan is to try the peanutbutter cookies. This is so much fun!

hi there,

"Chicolin" was a specific brand name for inulin powder derived from chicory roots. When it first appeared yrs ago, inulin was a unique product and very expensive. Nowadays, chicory-derived inulin powder is widely available and much cheaper .. for example Benefibre or Now Foods brand. You can also buy stevia pre-mixed with inulin for cheaper cost than 8 yrs ago ;). Sweetleaf is one brand; call to ask your local health food or natural foods store if they carry it or a similar product.

I use Krisda, which is a blend of inulin from chicory, erythritol and stevia(info here), but there are other brands available. Call your local health food store to see if they carry this or a similar product. Chances are good that they do!
