I am in a major rut. I cannot resist the urge for something sweet after I eat my dinner. Like a drink to an alcoholic, like a cig to a smoker, I am addicted to sugar...badly. Once I start to eat it, I always eat too much...as an addicted person would.
I get 6,000mg or 6 grams of glutamine in my protein drink twice per day. Starting last week I have been taking 200mcg of chromium twice per day. Is there anything else to try?
I can't stand the thought of eating anymore diet jello...I am completely burned out on it. The toughguy is not feeling so tough right now :(

Are you eating enough fat at dinner? It's pretty satiating.
What about removing yourself from the opportunity to have something sweet after dinner. Go for a walk, a drive, anything to get your mind off of it. Make up your mind not to give in.
It's all practice. The more you do it, the better you get at it. The cravings do go away, but only if you don't give in to them.

I sure understand what you are going through. I am just a terrible sugar addict. I have been on Atkins nearly seven months and I have never missed the pasta, potatoes, rice, or bread. But my sugar cravings have been awful.
I couldn't agree more with what Karen said. You really have to stay away from it completely. Even the artificially sweetened sweets make me crave more and diet sodas can make me crave.
I tend to crave sugar when I am tired, it gives me that boost. But the problem is that it is only temporary and then you start craving even more.
It is really hard to give up sugar but there is just nothing else we sugar addicts can do but stay away from it or anything that even tastes like sugar! UGH! May the force be with us! Cindi

Yes, I love my fat. Last night I actually gnawed on my steak bone like a dog to get the last bit of fat flavor off it. Woof-Woof :yum:

Good advice but hard to do. I get these cravings my last couple hours before bed. I have already worked my butt off at the gym and I am ready to just relax until I go to sleep, with my bag of Hershey Nuggets w/almonds

I hope so. 35 years years plus of bad eating habits are sure hard to break. Thanks for the reply.

They are! You CAN do it!
I think it took me 6 months to feel "normal" without eating sugar. And the cravings and the anger and the everything!
In retrospect, It was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Living chained to a carton of Haagen Dazs Caramel Cone Explosion was not much of a life.

Take one tablet 3 times per day about 30 minutes before you eat and you should have your sugar cravings under control.
