I'm not very fond of the taste of coconut oil (funny because I LOVE coconut). Tried the chocolate coconut bark. Yuck (DS likes it though! - giving it to him for his eczema - hope it helps!)
Tried it to fry eggs - no go. Not to mention I'd actually like to be able to track how much I'm getting (so frying things is out in general - I have no clue how much oil ends up in the fried product.)
Tried using it in KevinPA's chocolate cake - that ruined it (for me anyway).
Tried it in hot cocoa - now THAT worked!
8 oz Calorie Countdown milk + 1 T cocoa powder + sweetener (to taste) + 1 T coconut oil (5 carbs ... 3 for milk 2 for the cocoa I have)
But one can drink only SO much hot cocoa - and with summer around the corner (ok around a couple of corners) I know I won't want hot beverages then.
Any other suggestions for how to use it where I won't taste it?
ETA -
I don't like the bitter after taste I get. I purchased NOW brand. Is there a brand that has better (or less!) flavor?

I'll have to try it in hot cocoa. I don't like the taste at all and I've found that peanut butter is the only thing (so far, that I've tried) that masks the flavor.
Good luck! I'm looking forward to reading the replies.

I use Jarrow Formulas (organic, expeller pressed). I cannot taste *any* aftertaste. Does not seem to taste like anything.

Do you still get all the same health benefits?

I assume that one would...however....
I'm a sceptic about the health benefits of coconut oil in general. I did the "experiment" (2-3 T a day) for about 4 weeks to see if it would boost my metabolism and it was the only 4 weeks I did not lose any weight. lol. Could jsut be a coincidence but I was not willing to keep eating it without results. Feel I'm getting good results with my plan and still losing about a pound a week more or less.
I now use it for cooking and recipes in place of butter and canola oils. The high heat tollerance makes it good for frying and sauteing.

I'd love the gel caps, but I've read that it would take about 28 of them a day to get the 3-4 T suggested serving size. Talk about expensive! YIKES!

I ordered Nutiva brand CO and just got it yesterday. I think it smells more 'smooth' and when I tried some in my hot cocoa I didn't notice it at all. (I could still tell the NOW brand was there, it was just tollerable in hot cocoa).
Maybe I'll be able to use this brand more easily (for want of a better term)
How much did you put in the Mock Danish? wouldn't want it to fall any flatter than it does with all that extra oil! :lol:

Got my 16 oz. jar at GNC..{$12.99} Extra Virgin CO/Organic
I do not taste it at all..
My 1 tbs. is through coffee in the morning..
The next two will be during the day replacing butter..{Like with eggs/rev rolls/etc..}
The lady at GNC told me not take any after 5pm bc it can cause insomnia..
{BC it speeds up metab/gives you energy.}
