I am considering getting a food processor. If I do get one, I want a good one, not a cheapo one, but not the most expensive either. I saw a recipe for gyros, which is the main reason I wanted to buy one, also I figured I can make my own almond flour and save some money. I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, so I am not sure any dough attachments for the food processor would be useful? I just don't know how often I would use this appliance or, what I could use it for, so I don't know if it would be feasible to buy one or not.

What I would like to ask is: What kind of food processor do you have? What kind of things or recipies do you use it for? I would be interested in something that is easy to clean and use, dishwasher safe. I have a family of 4, so I would need a decent sized one. :help:

Hi ~ I have a Cuisinart, bought at Costco for $169.99. I bought it to replace a very old Cuisinart that my neighbor gave me.

I love this machine. Please know that the Cuisinart has (what they say is) the largest food hopper on the market. This is the space where you place your food to be processed. It is larger than the old Cuisinart models and larger than other FPs hoppers that I've seen.

It's one of my most-used appliances. I still do some hand chopping of veggies because I enjoy it - but I do more with the Cuisinart.

I use it for: cabbage in cole slaw, filling for deviled eggs - so smooth, chopping veggies, slicing strawberries (couldn't be faster or better!), slicing cabbage for sauteeing or boiling, slicing veggies - great for mushrooms, making salsa, sometimes I make my cheesecake batter in it, - that's all I can think of right off the top of my head, but I know I use it for more.

If you happen to buy it at Costco, they have such a great, hassle-free return policy you can use it and see if you like it and if you don't - simply return it. *Ü*

Thanks for the help! I probably will be buying one next week. I saw one at Costco :agree: I am interested in purchasing. It's a 7 cup Cuisinart with a stainless steel base. If I get this Gyros recipe to work, it should be worth it! All your other suggestions will make this worth the investment, as well! Thanks again!
