I was curious if it would be ok to use the George Forman grill to cook like burger patties? Cause the George Forman grill drains all the fat away so wouldn't that somewhat defeat the purpose of having a high fat, low carb? Thanks :D.

I live with my George Foreman.

It works great for everything.

I've been "testing driving" a friends Greorge Forman grill this week to see if we want to buy the family size one. She has the tiny one so it's taking a little longer to cook the food, but so far it has been pretty good. I've done pork chops, chicken and a ribeye. I think we will be buying our own.

The grill is great for veggies. I douse them in flavored olive oil and they taste great.

Clean up tip: when you're done, unplug and place wet paper towels or J-cloth on the grill and shut down the lid. By the time it comes to clean up, most of the gunk has been steamed off.

I have the family size grill and I use it almost every day and sometimes twice a day. I let the fat drain off as usual. It seems like the hamburger still has enough fat in it and I usually add cheese to ours too.

never fear, foreman's don't drain all the fat away, its not a miracle machine! or you could just throw some mayo or olive oil on whatever you cook after its on the plate!

I love my George Foreman. It's so versatile and is great for when you don't feel like firing up the charcoal grill. I haven't tried veggies on it though...they sound delish!

peiqinglon; While I am new to this board I am an old timer to Dr.Adkins idea. I got the book back in 1996 and went on the diet. Quite successfully I might add.
Having studied the book "New Diet Revolution" thouroughally
like a textbook (I was a college teacher) I notice in your question an indication of a partial lack of understanding of Dr.Adkins basic premise. None of the replies referred to this therefore I believe this mis-
understanding is widespread.
You seem to indicate that losing the fat from the burgers on the Foreman grill is a loss. Dr. Adkins, as far as I could discern from his books did not mean for this to be a "high" fat low Carb diet.
It was to be a normal consumption of fats with low cargs. In other words it was in contrast to the "Low fat diets" that abound. He did not say "eat all the fat that you can" but "eat a normal amount of fat" vs the stupid low fat diets that do not work. I know about them I was put on one by my doctor and I simply could not follow it for several reasons. Can't go into them here--too long.
I did want to point out this misconception of Dr.Adkins idea.

getting a George Forman Grill is a great idea. I absolutely love mine.

I totally get what Jackgaither is saying because that's how I interpreted the book. Not necessarily "high fat" but try to get in enough of the good fat.
