So I have been taking this supplement for approx 2 months now and I am ready to buy another bottle...but I know there has been some research indicating this may be a dangerous supplement: http://www.berkeleywellness.com/html/ds/dsSupplements.php (and look under chromium...or check out the other supplements!)

Is anyone else taking chromium piccolinate? Anyone stopped taking it due to recent findings? What about other types of chromium? Are they okay?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I researched and decided not to take it. There are pros & cons, of course--my thought was why take the chance? Better safe than sorry, I say.

I am glad I found this article. I had heard the picilonate was bad for ya! Now, I know why! Yikes!

I take it, as that is a supplement Dr. A suggested in DANDR. Whether or not deficiency is widespread...its likely I have a deficiency because I don't eat properly (yes...even now) as I rarely eat veggies. I figure they have studies showing that bananas cause cancer so I take this hamster study worth a grain of salt at this point.

I've been taking chromium picolonate for a couple of months now. I'm almost through with the bottle, so I've bought the nicotinate type this time from GNC. I've heard about the possible problems with the former, so decided to switch.

I have no idea if it has aided my weight loss. I also take L-Carnitine, which has no issues that I know of.

Follow what Ms. Bon says. According to supplementwatch.com, the chromium "nicotinate" is better to take, and is well absorbed. It is part of my (soon to increase) 14 pills a day routine. NOw, I am not a doctor, and the latter is what I take, however, the lab rats that were used to test the picolonate were over dosed beyong imagination. BUt, we tend to want to err on the side of safety.

How much is everyone taking? I will not replace the picolinate at this time...but I just noticed my multi vitamins contain chromium (chelate?)...100 mcg....

Is this enuf? Or should I add some nicotinate...assuming I can find some???

Actually, DANDR suggests taking Chromium Polynicotinate, not Picolinate. I got them mixed up, too, and need to go back to the store now. I was considering keeping the picolinate, since I saw others were taking that, but not after seeing this thread.

That's what I've been trying to find....without much luck I might add. No one seems to carry the polynicotinate...... I don't want to resort to online unless I can find a Canadian site as the $US makes it very pricey!

Do you have access to a health food store where you are? I bet they would have it.

Been there, done that. Have checked most of the chains here and some local stores as well. Sometimes able to get the chromium picolinate if they can smuggle it in...lol (I think it is banned in Canada). But don't want to use that anymore.

I have found the Chromium GTF...not sure if it is as good, but may try it if I can't locate the nicotinate or polynicotinate!

I got this all switched up too...good thing the guy gave me the picolinate bottle for free.

edited to add: I'm glad I never took any of it.

If it's any help, I found my chromium polynicotinate at General Nutrition Center (GNC). Everywhere else I've checked only has the chromium picolinate.
